Given I strongly doubt he abandoned his car at the bus stop to get it, I suppose there were two people in the car, and they work in opposite ways from the starting point(home?).

My bus is a 45 minutes ride downtown, i dont have a car personally however i catch a ride down to the bus stop with my parents on their way to work. They go one way, the bas takes me the other. Also they charge me like a 100 odd bucks for a year long bus pass as part of my tuition. So i may aswell use it.
