I saw Iced Earth play a little while ago in San Diego. Not too bad, but I liked Symphony X better, it was kind of a double headliner show.

Listening to this one atm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3srfPBoRPY (together with Epica) some of Hollands best export products ^^

Brain needs cleansing after the godawful rap song I just heard, so it's time for some Sleigh Bells.

ugh, yea, not their best work. but you're in the wrong genre to call it anywhere close to the worst thing ever. I'd rather listen to this one song all day than, say, anything on the radio...

Chromatics - Kill For Love was an interesting choice to put into a EDM podcast, enough so it became my favorite track from that episode.

Audioslave, Clash, Plant/Krause, Mumford and Sons, Flogging Molly, Social Distortion, REM, Monster Magnet

question - I cannot think of any future Rock and Roll HoF bands that started in the 2000s, can you? Even "current" headliner bands like the Foo Fighters and Green Day were charting in the 90s. Help me out here, are there any sustained success stories from the last decade for a Rock band (vice pop, rap etc, I mean rock) that has HoF potential? There have been some solid albums but anyone recording today that in 2025 folks are going to give a damn about?

Hmm......Shinedown?
Avenged Sevenfold?

Idk I would have to look @ when bands started charting.

You do have a pretty solid point though, not many I can think of >.<

the next wave is going to be the Grunge/Seattle bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains etc, then Green Day and maybe No Doubt and Oasis types in a few more years, think Foo Fighters are eligible around 2018 but then ... nothing but pop, RnB and rap unless some of the good bands out there like those Aubade mentioned step it up, put out some memorable albums or we get watered downed entries like Kid Rock (who I like but don't consider HoF level).

not sure if any of these meet your criteria for 'rock' and if they're popular enough in the US to make it into the Hall of Fame, but Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Coldplay, Muse, Franz Ferdinand and Arcade Fire all showed up at about that time. It is pretty funny though - I didn't intentionally pick mostly UK bands, but I'm struggling to think of many US bands that aren't more in the pop punk category.

I've been shown Emilie Autumn a few days ago. Her voice is great, with a tune you don't see often, but her songs aren't really my style.
So I trudged through her stuff and separated a few gems that I liked.

Fort, you may be right, will have to see the continued success of the bands you listed or will be like so many others who had a good album or two, enjoyed their 15 minutes and left by the backdoor, but there is some potential there.

I thought of Arctic Monkeys but kinda feel like they've been getting less attention since their early stuff.

Muse started too early to be a 2000s band (first album 1999), but they're huge, yes. Coldplay are huge, too, though I'm not really a fan. Don't know how anyone could say they'd be 15 minutes then gone bands, they've both been around over a decade and are very successful. Franz Ferdinand seem to have vanished (I'd not complain about that).

I cannot stand Arcade Fire. At all.

yeah, I wouldn't really call myself a fan of most of those bands either - just trying to think of the ones that were a chance at the HoF (like it or not Nickelback will probably get in at some stage as well). A few of them definitely need a few more solid albums to be real contenders. Apparently Franz Ferdinand have another album coming out this year.

RE: US bands - The Strokes, The Black Keys and The White Stripes may have a chance and if I'm allowed to cheat again and suggest late 90's bands that became bigger in the 2000's Death Cab For Cutie and Modest Mouse are possibilities.
