Pew pew, Laser Paladins in Big Stompy Robots (Perpetuum)
Tried Perpetuum this weekend (15 day free trial) and was really surprised at how close it felt to Eve.
Certainly at the entry level, the only real difference seems to be the Big Stompy Robots instead of Spaceships, but Big Stompy Robots are just as cool as Spaceships.
The only thing i'm wondering at the moment is if it has enough depth further on to make it worth sticking with past the trial.
Has anyone here been playing Perpetuum enough to offer any insight into how it stacks up for older charachters (even the skill up system is time based like in Eve)?

It's like eve in 2003.
Eve in 2003 was colder and harsher.
It has some good points (LoS and exploding), but it kinda stops here - and lacks all the features added to eve post-release (that means: Depth in manufacturing/economy, invention, planetary interaction, faction warfare, invention, wormholes, proper sovereignity system, capitals, INCURSIONS, and probably something i'm forgetting).
It's also not-polished and not-estabilished.
If you like getting in a 'fresh' game, go for it: EVE power systems are quite estabilished. Else, unless you REALLY hate massive fleets, eve is better.
