Re: Space Marine
And verily Space Marine was published and the Emperor spake, and he said "It is good."
Only played the demo and some of a friends game atm but damn, it really really captures the feel of 40k and seems like it has the chops to be a great game, definitely looking forwards to getting it myself soon. The space marine armour creator looks really neat as well, huge number of options for creating the chapter you want or a unique one all of your own.

I too played the demo, and i died a few times, till i figured out that when that bar fills from combat, you can activate an ability that heals you by a ton and makes you have a glowy cloud of awesome while you smash through groups of bad guys. Once i figured that out, the demo was over in 10 or 15 minutes

Also, when you stun someone, the result of using the stun move or sometimes from weapon attacks randomly, you can perform an 'execute' move which adds a ton of health to you.

We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

My semi review of the game:
Its awesome to be a space marine cuz you kick so much ass, but very repetitive. After a certain point in the story, heading into melee is almost suicidal (imo) so it becomes a 3rd person shooter.

Nearly finished.
Heading into melee isn't suicidal at all, proven you've got a thunder hammer.
Or you're in Fury.
Or you're smashing up ranged specialists.
Which, sincerely, for the universe, makes perfect sense. Why should one engage close combat specialists in melee, when firepower is available?

I'll wait for a proper single player Chaos campaign, then.

I think Arkham Asylum needs a warning or disclaimer something like;
"Warning: AA posts may cause severe urges to buy or rent games you may not have been interested in, known about or would normally consider playing. If you experience sudden urges to purchase said games please consult your wallet, bank account or significant other to see if these games are right for you and your budget."
Come see me at my store, I will make you buy things you never even thought you wanted. Oh what's that? you thought barbie horse adventures was a lame game? Well let me show you barbie's horse CAMP. They fixed the horse AI, and have new increased horse stable leveling systems.

Mike and I should have pre ordered skyrim from you, doh!

I'd love to see that.
I mean, I love Space Marines and I think the Emperor is a swell dude and all, but I want to play a 40K video game where I am an Ork or a Chaos Marine or even an Imperial Guardsman.
Hell, I'd love to see them make an Inquisitor RPG.

I love how Dark Millennium Online looks :O
Dawn of War 2 - Retribution allows you to play as an Ork, Chaos Marine and Imperial Guardsman, along with Eldar, Tyranid and the regular Space Marines. I haven't started it just yet but from what I've read, the campaign is somehow basically the same no matter what race you pick, which is kind of a bummer but each race is supposedly unique in their gameplay.
Bye space sword!

DoW2: Ret does have some very similar missions indeed, though each race has its own reason for doing them since you're basically playing out the story (and I liked the story a lot) from 6 different perspectives. That said, it's one of the few games which I actually was driven to complete with every race, each has such different abilities, characters and plot the game was still fun enough on the 6th run through of similar missions.
Back on topic... just played my first MP games of Space Marine, holy fuck the Emperor is kind, I'm not sure if they could have done a better job of making the game, the weapons, the different clases, it all feels just like 40k, and nothing beats setting up a heavy bolter just before a bunch of chaos marines race around a corner... eat hot mass reactive death, heretic scum!

My personal favourite is when an Ass/Rap drops in front of my braced Dev/Hav and thinks he's going to live long enough to kill me.
hint: Unless he has the hammer and the one hit kill perk...he's not.
