Old School Games
Just created this thread to rave about playing Ogre Battle 64/Earthbound/Super Mario RPG.
I'm going through my second play through of Ogre Battle 64 right now, and I'm still loving it. Had to teach myself about chaos frame so I could get a better ending. Probably gonna play through Earthbound again during this deployment. It's great that there are some sweet, timeless games like these. Any favorites or recommendations from you guys?

If you're into 4X games Master of Orion and Master of Magic are good for eating many hours.

There should be a rule that you have to link a rom/emulator setup site.

You guys posted almost everything that made me get into gaming!
But I so also loved
Old school Zelda games (back when they made them in Gold casing)
Legend of the Dragoon
I also enjoyed Chrono Chross

IMO one of the best games ever by far...I would eat it up if they just redid it with new graphics...seriously it's one of Squaresoft's biggest accomplishments IMO.

Are we limited to console/ROMs? Otherwise I would strongly recommend Monkey Islands 1, 2, and 3, Loom, Baldur's Gate 2, and Heroes of Might and Magic 2.

I STILL play Master of Orion and the old gold-box AD&D games; both are classics. There are several good abandonware sites you can get them from; I can't remember which one I've got bookmarked at home, but I didn't have to fill out any stupid surveys or anything, which was a common theme on the others.

I fully support the mention of Secret of Mana. That was a GREAT game.

Re: Old School Games
my girlfriend never played any nintender/super nintendo games (she had a genesis growing up). I bought Chrono Trigger for the DS for her. Also gonna make her play Link to the Past, Super Metroid and FF6 (or 3, however you want to count it).
I've heard great things about Earthbound, but I've never played it.
Another game I'm going to make my gf play...Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm going to assume PS1 is old school these days, lol. One of my gf's favorite gammes of all time is SaGa Frontier.
