Verizon 4G-LTE

Anyone here have a thunderbolt or another device that is using the new LTE from verizon? It appears only a few areas have the "4g" coverage and the area I'm in is supposed to be upgraded sometime this year. I have a new phone upgrade and I've heard good things so far about the thunderbolt. so has anyone here actually used it? know someone who uses/used it?

Personally, we aren't getting Verizon 4g in my area until 2013 or 2014 at the earliest, so I'm not going to pay to upgrade. By the time we get 4g in the area, the Next Big Thing will be out.

Seemingly endless amounts of dropped calls has me considering switching from AT&T to verizon, and I'm considering getting a thunderbolt if I switch. What does the battery life look like on the thunderbolt?

I think I remember them saying on the review that they wished they could turn the 4g off, since it absolutely kills battery life - down to something like 4-5 hours (on standby!) on a full charge.

yea I've heard the battery life is pretty bad, I JUST got the phone last night and 4G will be in my area this year. I was using the phone nonstop for almost 2 hours last night an I only lost 1/3 to 1/4 of a charge, left it on all night, and then it needed a charge. keep in mind the battery was just out of the box and did not have a charge

I have a Thunderbolt but I don't live in a 4g area. I'm pretty sure the only place that have 4g right now are the NFL team cities. I went to New Orleans a couple weeks ago and got to try 4g out. Insane speeds, but it will drain your battery like crazy.

I'm getting a Thunderbolt really soon once it is available from a website that I buy cell phones from.

I'm not too worried about the supposed horrible battery life even though I live in a 4g area since I will most likely have 4g off most of the time when I am not using it.

even the 3g is pretty fast. not to be corny but the phone really is lighting fast. its incredibly smooth. well worth it. and I've been thinking that the phone is as powerful as my desktop 10 years ago. almost scary

I just got the Thunderbolt last week. Yes, the battery life is garbage. The reason is you can't turn off or toggle between 4g/3g meaning its always looking for 4g even if you know its not available. HTC is supposed to be releasing a patch soon that will fix this issue, allowing you to change it so you can extend your battery life.

I can't take my phone into work, so I've started shutting it off completely, I left it on at the start, but ended up going from a full charge to just about dead/10% battery life. Other than the battery life, it's awesome for my first android phone. Pictures and video's are sweet, love having a flash too (switched from an iphone 3gs). The screen is HUGE! The greatest joy was getting rid of AT& drop all my calls, T and switching to Verizon.

Edit: Oh and having 8Gigs onboard (only 2GB is usable by the user) and a 32GB SD card isnt bad either.

So after some usage and all that I've decided to go exchange it.

#1 I am almost NEVER in a 4G/LTE zone, when I am and turn the 4G on (thanks Santcuff for the app!) the battery dies FAST. I mean it went from full charge to 1/3 charge in 10 min of usage on 4G/LTE.
#2 I am an almost 2 year user of the iPhone 3GS. I am used to the interface/keyboard/apps on the iphone. I will more than likely be exchanging it for an iPhone 4 to be honest.
#3 I use my phone alot for video clips and pictures (happens when you have dang cute 2 year old). It's a major PITA to MMS/SMS these to my wife (she has an iphone 4). I took video at almost all of the settings and it would constantly say the clip was too big (same with pics).
#4 Even after getting the LTE turn off app, I still was constantly having to tweak all my settings on the phone for the batter not to die.

Well those are the main reasons why I am getting rid of the Thunderbolt. Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone and yes 4G/LTE is the wave of the future, but at this time I have determined that I just don't need this phone, and would prefer to go back to my confort zone, ie the iPhone. I am in no means an Apple fanboi either. This is the only Apple anything I have/will ever own. My 2 cents.
