If my doctor wanted to do a gynecological exam because I went to see them for, say, migraines...I'd find a new doctor.

Let me put it this way:

There are only 3 people who are allowed to put their hands between my legs - myself, my boyfriend or any other lover I might have, and my doctor doing a gynecological exam.

Anyone else will find that shoving their hands between my thighs will result in a violent confrontation.

Have any of you guys been patted down before? It really isn't bad at all. I've been patted down multiple times. The people doing it aren't looking to get a hard-on from patting you down. They're doing their job to keep our country safe. I personally have no problems with increased security. It honestly makes me feel safer about getting on a plane knowing that they have all these precautions in place.

I've gotten a traditional pat down before. That's not what's been discussed here. These "enhanced pat downs" involve the inspector running their hands palm down over a person's entire body, under clothing.

You did hit on an important point, though. This is really about security theater, making people feel safer...not to be confused with actually reducing the chance of a terrorist hijacking.

From my understanding (and on this, I could be wrong), enhanced pat down = hands maintain constant contact that involves more skimming/rubbing type motion, as opposed to patting.

The other thing I'd add to the doctor vs TSA argument, if you for whatever reason become uncomfortable with your doctor (someone you chose to begin with) performing said touching, you are allowed to stop the exam, and go find a new doctor as opposed to being told "too bad" and/or get fined $11k.

You'd be surprised. There are some correlations between uterine cancer and severe headaches. It has to do with the screwballing of certain hormone production.

And yeah, women go through the "turn your head and cough" bit. It's rare (that a doc will check it without a specific reason), but women can get hernias just the same as men can - that's what the whole test is for.

But generally, that'd be more last resort than starting with any symptomatic trends, checking eyes, neck, etc.
