Look at Miku playing that guitar so well and being uber kawaii desu at the same time! She is so talanted I love her. Her friends are cool too and also kawaii desu, but not as much as Hatsune-chan.
I don't know which I dislike more, generic American Vocaloid (the characters/idols) or Hetalia fans.

It'll never be immortalized -- it can't OD on drugs or shoot itself in the head.
edit: let me know when they have holograms with actual substance... I've always wanted to get with a cartoon character.

That's not uncanny valley. THIS is uncanny valley. The vocaloids are too obviously drawn and "not actually human" to produce the effect.

TBH, after having read a shit pile of William Gibson novels, this kind of makes me go "why the fuck has this taken so long to make"? Obviously there's a market. I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

Synthesized choir with human female voices - the gimmick is that each "person" in the choir sings the same note as her bra cup size.

It looks like there is a concerted effort to holographic capability which makes the work on vocaloids seem small (though they do have some strong overlap in their efforts). During Japan's presentation for the 2022 World Cup bid, they revealed an effort to holographically project matches at life-scale in stadia around the world, allowing local fans to watch the match as if it's there. Ambitious? Yes, but now I almost want them to get the bid so I can see this in action.
