Since moving from California to New Zealand, one of the things I really enjoy is that I can always get a decent beer when I am out and about. The basic swill-quality brews here are vastly superior to the similar ilk in the US.
I know the US has some great microbrews and all that - I am talking about when you are at a sports event, or at some small pub that just has the basics. Tui, Speights, and Export Gold are all reasonably drinkable, and can be found anywhere. Heck, even Steinlager isn't bad if the competition is Coors, Bud, or Miller.
My weapon-of-choice in the mass-produced beer genre isn't a local, however. I love me some Kilkenny. Several places here have it on tap. It's lovely.

Any small "pub" that serves nothing but bottom of the barrel crap doesn't deserve the name imo. How can you specialize in serving beer and yet have nothing to offer in that department?

Damn, you beat me to it.
But really if you are going to be drinking Miller Lite, you might as well get smashed on Listerine mouthwash or something similar. At least then it you have the benefit of helping your teeth and gums.

A Belgian appears.
He uses Stella Artois, Westvleteren, Duvel and 500 other of the most epic beers in the world. It is SUPER effective.
Thread about beer is knocked OUT.

Man and he didn't even mentioned trappist beer yet
BUt really, if americans think miller lite is horrible beer while the good beers there are already basicly colored water... what is miller then? toxic waste?
