OT: you drop your cell phone in the toilet, do you
just flush it and chalk it up as a loss....or do you send an email out to your work asking for an antibacterial wipe for said phone...that you fished out with your hand?

Or fish it out with your hand and clean it yourself?

that's not playing by the rules set forth by the person that sent out the email here at work today.
she dropped her phone in the toilet...then sent an email out asking for an antibacterial wipe.

Are you assuming she's using the wipes for the phone? Or did she say that she specifically dropped her phone in the toilet and needed wipes to clean it?

That's odd. Just fish it out. If you can't stand the thought, that's what plastic bags and gloves are for. ( I don't know how common is it for people to have surgery gloves at home. Here we've always kept a couple boxes ). Dismantle it and dry clean what you can. A hair dryer on (but not on any of the hotter temperatures) for a few minutes should put it in good shape to leave to dry on a table for a day or two. Usually nothing fries.

Just leave it in there and hope the reaction of the next person is epic.

Would it just be:
*notices phone in toilet*
*shakes head*
*mutters: "What a dumb ass."*
*walks away*

If this is a serious question about saving the phone and not just, "Ew, I dropped my phone in the toilet," Then I would suggest that you dry it with a towel, then use canned air to spray out as much water as you can, and then put it in a bag of rice for a day or so. Then, if it works, you can use alcohol/bleach wipes to sanitize it.

1: why is there not a poll for this?
2: my gf did this the other day, killed her smartphone she had for about a month, I've only dropped a cellphone in the toilet once, ever, and it still worked, and it was before I pooped so I pulled it out

1) fish out phone.
2) wash hands with soap
3) clean/dry phone as someone else mentioned
4) wash hands again. With soap.

OT for the OT -
My son spilled water on my wife's laptop. Not wanting to get in trouble, he closed it up and let it sit.
Hours later...
"Honey, your laptop peed on our kitchen table."

Step 1: If phone is not off, immediately turn it off
Step 2: Disassemble and rinse with distilled water
Step 3: Let dry for several days (bag of rice is a good idea)
Step 4: ???

Why has no-one asked how the phone got in a position to be falling into the toilet in the first place?
I would seriously slap silly anyone who called me whilst on the job
