In essence, it was a historic game. I believe as it stands, he is the only pitcher in history with a 28 out perfect game.

Wow that's some nasty defense the reds just flashed. A little bad news bears action under the bright lights (pun intended) of the post season.

I'm hoping you're joking.
I thought "who?" as well. Of course, I have neither cared about nor followed baseball since I was a child in the 80's trying to collect all the Ken Griffey Jr. cards I could get my hands on, being from WA and loving the fail Mariners.

That phils game was a prime example of why it's great to be good...but awesome to be lucky. That Jay Bruce error was something i have seen in the stadium before with outfielders...but it always amazes me how the ball can get lost in the lights.
also, the guy that was whistling...the entire damn game...i was hoping that aroldis chapman lost control of fastball and beaned that doosh...god he was annoying...whistling all the damn time.

Whut about Pedro Martinez' non-perfect perfect game?
Back in 1995, he pitched a perfect game, but the expos being the expos, didn't score at all during those same 9 innings. He starts the 10th, gives a hit, gets taken out by the manager, expos win the game.
His final scorebox. 9IP, 1H, 0ER, 0 Walks.
Also, I hope Bud Selig chokes on a BFOD and DIAF.

There is all kinds of crazy stuff like that though, particularly with no hitters since you can just flat out lose a no hit game. In fact if you are the visiting pitcher and your team is losing, you can't pitch a no hitter at all because the other team will only bat 8 times.
If Pedro's line was 9IP, then he still only got 27 outs, if he got any outs in the 10th it would have been 9.1 or 9.2IP. Of course officially gallaraga only got 27 outs as well.

Yeah, he gave up a hit to the first hitter he saw on the 10th inning and then removed from the game, which is why he ended up with 9IP.

I believe he got 27 outs and a Corvette the next day from Chevy.
