I think I read that Bethany, Carver, and Leandra will have different skin tone depending on what Hawke looks like. You're always a human though, you are probably thinking of DA: Origins or Oblivion (tiger people ftw)

I think you're right, I am thinking of DA:O, where you pick your 'backstory'.

I just finished playing this through as a blood/force mage, and tbh, once I got the style down, it was retardedly OP. I spent 100% mana on sustained buffs (heroic aura, arcane barrier, elemental weapons, rock armor, etc), and used blood magic for spells. My spells were a mix of primal (full tree), a bit of entropy (double cc with horror and petrify is win), some curses (100% crit on bosses is nice, especially with haste popped), some creation (more cc, a heal to use on my target after sacrifice for my own health, haste), a bit of spirit at the end, and some blood. The aoe could clear a room in two casts (tempest/hemorage), and on bosses beween the buffs and curses, they could be rendered impotent. I used mostly Fenris (2h raw dps w/ WW, mighty blow, stam regen talents, and rally), Aveline (pure defense/tank) and Varric. Meredith was a snooze, and the Arishok (I dueled him) never actually hit me. Against the less cc'able bosses, like the high dragon, the buffs, aoe for the spawning adds, and ability to curse the boss and then heal allies made them extremely easy. Lots of fun, although I think I'm going to play through one more time as a rogue.

I'm surprised at my lack of desire to play this game again. I ran through it beating it twice in the first week I had it, but really where's the point in playing it again? The mages vs templars is the only real different path - there's no third path to justify a third playthrough.

I can only think of a single path that even has a third option - whether or not you bring bethany/carver to the deep roads at the end of act I with or without anders. And even then, it's a terminal path - there's nothing that goes from that further than the beginning of act II.

I guess there's just a very noticeable feeling that no matter what you choose, you're railroaded to where the developers want you. Take the templar vs mage path - even if you side with the templars, the mages still revolt all through Denerim (and beyond?). It would've been better if, instead of fighting both of them, you fought the head mage in the templar playthrough, thus putting down the rebellion, or fought the head templar in the mage playthrough, sparking a worldwide rebellion.

Bioware, after this long, thou hast disappointed me. I put up with the $40 price tag on DA:O: Awakening, I suffered through the bugged to hell mini-DLC for DA:O, and I ran through the same exact dungeons 50+ times during two playthroughs of DA II. I highly doubt that I'll be picking up any of the DLC for DA II, or DA III when it's inevitably released.

At least there's always Mass Effect.

Honestly, I'm just hoping that SWTOR:MMO won't take from DA2 :/

Rumors from PAX said that it's the biggest mistake Bioware has ever made. I actually haven't heard anything about the game, except for that, so make of it what you will.

It's far from being the biggest mistake it's selling decently it won't be Mass Effect but I enjoyed it.

Well, Bioware has a large enough fan base that they could release just about anything and it will sell decently. I like a lot of what Bioware has done, but the vibe I've gotten from a lot of people is "meh" enough that I'll be taking a pass on it....at least until it hits the $20 bin. It's the "likes, not loves" Bioware crowd that really seems to be hurting DA2's sales.

Yeah I agree with this sentiment.

That and the clash between the puritanical hardcore CRPG crew and the evolution and genre smashing that BioWare has been doing lately has made some fans fairly rabid.

Bioware's got balls. I certainly think they have a pretty good read on gamers' pulses, helping them stay ahead of the curve somewhat. I feel bad for the old-school Baldur's Gate types who feel slighted by the direction BW's games have taken, but not too bad because I am loving it. I really hope that SWTOR is profitable for BW and EA, whether or not it ends up having the longevity of an Everquest or a WoW, or the instant popularity of a Rift.

Varric can adjust certain details in his narration of Champion's story, but he can't rewrite established historical facts.

I always love posts like this, so specific and so on point with what they mean. Obviously because DA2 was the worst game ever made BioWare should not do anything that DA2 or else their MMO is doomed to be a failure like DA2. The worst game ever made.

the puritanical hardcore CRPG crew can suck it. BioWare is making western influenced JRPGs here and I love it.
