Calculate your taxes for next year.
This useful webpage allows you to quickly calculate how much more (or less) you're likely to pay next year depending on what Congress do. It's highly likely I'll be paying extra 18 hundred.

Can you make a super thread titled "Dianora's Thread Of Random Links/Videos"
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

Are they bringing back the marriage penalty when the bush cuts expire this year ?
And what about the self employment tax? Is that going up again too?

I have considered doing this many, many times. However, most of his threads have turned out to be a couple few pages long.

Re: Calculate your taxes for next year.
we don't have to pay taxes... show me the law that says we do... we're just controlled with fear
wasn't there a guy from NH that made an ad that advertised that he would pay someone millions if they could find the law that says we had to pay taxes and no one won?
isn't there also a story of some guy who has stopped paying taxes and has armed himself, barricaded his property, and has a fully functional village with the military/government parked outside the property?
airn't there a bunch of IRA agents who've stopped paying taxes cause they know they technically don't have to?
or are these just crazy conspiracy stories my roommate filled my head in college?

IRA agents...interesting typo there... In any event, yes there are plenty of laws about paying taxes:

i don't feel myself smart enough to file my taxes, i have someone do them for me. proof would be that when i applied for a job. somehow i wrote down that i had a dependent when i really didn't. you know that part that says, single or married. place 1 if single, then the second part was "how many in your family" i placed a 1 thinking that would let them know i was only 1 person.... wrong, them marked it as a dependent >.>

I'm in the category of 'sucker'. zero dependant, no house, nothing worth while to write off. My tax is so simple that I use Tim Geitner's favorite tax preparation software TurboTax to do mine. Of course, I'm not getting paid by a multi-national NGO, so I cannot evoke the Geitner exception.

That's just good sense - when you're filling out tax forms for a job, you can claim yourself as a dependent on them. Then when you're filing during tax season, claim 0 dependents for a larger return or smaller tax bill.

I think you have that backwards. Claim 0 dependents when you are filling a tax form out for a job, then claim yourself when you file your taxes at the end of the year. YOu can say it becomes like a little savings account. Though if you live in California you might not get your money back...they IOU'd my brother for months! lol

All you're doing by over-withholding is giving the government a zero interest loan. I'm not sure why you'd find that desirable.
