Thanks for the awesome hint :)

Also in Aleas there are characters called Biluoxx (where xx is a number) around lvl 17-19 using only defensive charms with just 20 spirit. I beat Biluo17 through 24 by exhaustion using 24 defensive charms.

edit, I'm lvl 10 now, how do I get my skills past rank 1?

Once you're lvl 10, you just gain skill points like normal, since there's not cap anymore.

Depending on which skill it is, new ranks become available at different levels (usually every 10, but not always, heroism R1 is only available from level 6 onwards, for example). Charm skills, such as weapons, spells, and protections, open up a new rank every 10 levels. You need 100 points for R1, 180 for R2, 220 for R3, 260 for R4, and 300 for R5 (which opens at 40). Battle skills typically open at R1 @ 1, R2 @ 20, and R3 @ 40. Again, there are exceptions, like cheat death, which is only at 1 and 40.

Spirit's an interesting concept, since your opponent is essentially doing damage to themselves throughout the entire fight. You can play a single spirit charm and win because that was all you needed to take you over the threshold and exhaust them. From what I saw, spirit decks tended to get destroyed in the mid-to-late teens, but at 22 they take off, thanks to Duelist's Mind Blast. For my part, I'm definitely regretting skipping over all the good Willpower charms in Ghost Mine!

Wait, WTF am I doing? Why am I turtling? Why am I going for a slow spirit-based strategy?

Oh, by the by ... Guillex is in a guild right now ... So if someone IS starting one up, invite either Guillessia or Guillexia.

Also, does anyone NOT have apprentices? I'll follow them as mentors.

Well I hit level 7 and have 88 HP so now I'm skilling up Survival and Cheat Death on the Prairie Spirit. However once I get one I can no longer get the other from the spirit as I'll have to much HP for it to drop me below 10%. :(

I don't have any apprentices Guillex, if you want to add me! http://www.estiah.com/user/register/index/id/77014 is the mentor link. Can you add one after you have created your account? My character is called Kandiru.

I've just been doing rooftop rush, quite a fun "teach them how to use extra-action and bane" fight :)" I've got lucky with the loot and got some I can actually use for once! 3* Shining Clubs from 2 runs.

Rooftop Rush is an easy first fight; stack five captains hats, free Spirituality/Cheat Death.

The final fight in rooftop rush can be annoying if you're doing it at a very low level, but otherwise it's definitely a fun dungeon!

Shining clubs are fantastic. If you're up against anyone using a turtle deck or mixed defense, they lose ground very quickly, but if you get full use out of the bane they're deadly.

The bane is 80% penetrating, so even if they are warded you still do a reasonable amount of damage.(8vs12). When I am level 13 I can use the blind ray for a 100% penetrating bane too. I'll have mostly raw Melee and Penetrating magic then. I suppose raw magic and penetrating magic would work better, but I don't have access to any magic but holy.

I still haven't chosen an offstat, so all my stats are in Int/Con at the moment which means I can't use much other than Maces/Holy. I can't decide between Pow (Summon/Earth, Fists) and Dex(Lightning, Spear).

Any advice on which works better for a Paladin/Heirach (not decided which yet.) Its a bit hard to know what's going to matter at high levels when you are low level! I don't want to start raising one only to change my mind later.

I've changed my mind half a dozen times already, it's not a huge deal.

With paladins at least, Dex will traditionally play to your strengths, giving you more defensive options, whilst Power will give you more versatility, especially in spirit damage. Versatility tends to be a good thing in PvE, and specialisation, or boosting your strengths, tends to be good in PvP.

Heirarchs tend to dump Pow, taking Dex as a third but I could also see a case for building a Pow-as-third Heirarch. Ultimately, there is no best. Or rather, there is a best, but it's out of your control, because it depends on what your opponents are playing. Do some reading, check out some charms, but don't stress too much over it. You'll be able to build good decks either way, so long as you don't have like 40/41/39/37 or something :)

Because of Cobra Venom, Passionario takes 1 magic damage (3 warded, 1 pierced)
Because of Eye burn, Passionario takes 2 magic damage (2 pierced)
Because of Bright Mark, Passionario takes 3 magic damage
Because of Bright Mark, Passionario takes 3 magic damage

Nisssse. Kandiru the warlock.

Guild will be up in a week at the very latest, I'll start getting a list of high level people together in a day or two.

Haha, awesome picture Passionario :)

It wouldn't really matter what charms you had, there is enough penetration in that deck to kill you whatever charms you had (as long as it wasn't damage, then I die :()

Turtling actually becomes good at 20+ again, because not only do you have access to spirit charms, but you go from 34 armour per charm at 15, to 44 at 17, and then 61 at 20! Makes it almost impossible to burn down a properly constructed spirit deck with anything other than ... more spirit :(

On an unrelated note, I'm wondering if it's not too late to change my dump stat.

(At level 12, I have 43 Pow, 43 Int, 30 Con, 19 Dex)

No, that's fine. Pyros actually have one of the more hard and fast dump stats in the game -- you really want to keep your constitution low so you can use good shadow and fire charms, which are the two highest magic damage types. Axes just don't mix as well. Don't ignore constitution completely (like, still get skills that give you con), but just stop doing any jobs that give it and you should be fine.

I changed Int from primary to secondary at ~5, from secondary to tertiary at ~15, and from tertiary to dump at 20. It's not a huge deal. I'm going to want at least some Int for tanking later on, so it's not a waste in the long run, just means I have to wait a day or two extra to get certain other charms. Try to have your stats (primary / secondary especially) solidified by 20, but don't be afraid to fix something early rather than take a subpar path.

** Battle status **
attacker : 107/107 HP, 49 Armor, 49 Ward, 0 Willpower, 2/22 Charm(s) left
defender : 86/86 HP, 49 Armor, 95 Ward, 0 Willpower, 3/23 Charm(s) left

Attacker was level 9, the "I'm gonna play the innocent victim for you" was level 6.

Hmm, I think I'm running into the same problem you are. My level and stats nearly match yours, and it really sucks because everything decent that drops right now requires a high Dex. The charms I have are good, the charms I can use blow.

It's the primary reason why I use a turtle deck. Armors and wards will love you regardless of your stats.

I've always got my PvP/Pen deck (my default attack), Melee (with a little ward), Magic (With a little armor), and my Defence deck (with as much armor, ward, and banes as possible).

I was thinking of going Assassin, but I like all of the Lightning and Spear cards I got, so I may end up going Hierarch or Slayer.

As for stats, I've been keeping Dex and Con roughly equal, with Power far behind. Of course, I've got nearly 80 Int :P

I find the best thing against beginner turtle decks is extra actions, combined with melee-magic charms; Unless they have a lot of high armor AND high ward charms, They wont be able to stand up to multiple attacks, especially Pen. But this won't work when everyone gets spirit charms, multi actions plus spirit charms = a quick end of the battle.

My low level turtle deck has been beaten a few times. Most of the time the person is higher level and simply has more charms. But the best I've seen is one that beat me today that was all fist and +next melee. Just shredded through all of my armor and actually killed me.

So I got a day job and decided I'd actually give it a go. Would a fist deck be any good? I got bored of the Twinblade/Frost idea and am thinking about Fists/Fire.
