avoidance doesn't need to be at 102,4% to be uncrushable...avoidance+block on the other hand...

You know, I laughed so hard, that not only was I reduced to rolling around on the floor, but my posterior detached itself from my body, truly your words and examples reduced this problem to one that even a layman like myself can understand.
Don't DoT Girls, you want high aggro low damage abilities, think like a Warrior not a Warlock, you want their attention but not to work too hard on it. Get your Sunders up to reduce her armour, then a rend to leave a lasting impression. A bit of shield bashing to dispel her illusions about you wouldn't go amiss either, in fact if you can spell reflect her disinterest (and it takes timing and skill) then you get a chance to overpower, and she can't dodge your next heroic strike.
Ahem.
Or easier, talk to her, approach her realistically and get to know her, if she likes YOU then it doesn't matter what a twat your friends are / act like as she will be interested in you. Don't go in trying to score, just approach her and find out about her and if she is worth talking too, have the confidence to believe that she is already interested in you and that you are trying to convince yourself that she is worthy of your attention. Going in fighting up hill will tend to fail because you end up doing things like reducing her to WoW metaphors, and being honest, most girls don't go for that kind of thing (but if you find one that does, likes you, and you like, then go for it); I advise not starting the conversation with "would you like to see my level 12 paladin, I just learned how to consecrate, and I would love to judge you every 9s", maybe "Hi".

A bash to the face leads to a rampage for another place!
