Fall Out.
Knights of the Old Republic.
Probably others.
I enjoyed the Underdark expansion for Neverwinter Knights
Edit: once you have played one JRPG you pretty much have played them all, the stories are hardly different and the characters are usually formulaic even Tales of Vesperia thankfully the game is genuinely good.

This is why I'm a humorless feminist. Because rape jokes killed my sense of humor.

I enjoyed Mass Effect. I will rank ME as one of the best games of this decade.
The thing about each FF game is that there is finality (except for X) within each game. ME doesn't have that as it is stretched for another (reportedly) 2 games. So I want to see where the story goes, where it ends before I decide where I rank it in my all time favs. But good call on ME.
I wish an FF game had one half the amount of choice that Mass Effect or really most American RPG's have.
I dislike choice. I enjoy interactive novels. For some reason, Japan calls these RPGs.
Check out the Ace Attorney series for the DS. It's a really good example of some fine interactive storytelling.

Mass Effect plays like a movie to me; I really liked that game.

Final Fantasy Tactics single-handedly disproved my notion that a game needs to be translated well to be good.
Even with all the spelling errors, nonsensical names, and blaze guns, it conveys one of the most epic stories ever told through any medium. And the combat system, if unbalanced, was fun and rewarding.
In conclusion: FFT is one of the best friggin games ever made.

I still cry for Ramza in the end.
But not for Delita, he was a bitch.

Kotor never piqued my interest. But since we're spouting opinions, I also think Advent Rising was one of the most epic stories I've ever had the chance of playing.
I dig what you're saying though brosef.

/agree. FF Tactics was in a whole other league from the rest of the FF games.Vanifae wrote:Sabindeus wrote:Not counting Tactics, which was the best video game ever made, in a completely different league from the Final Fantasy series.
If it was possible for me to cry I would.
That was beautiful Sabin.
As to beating Omega Weapon...I cheesed the fights with my 40 or so Holy Wars lol. Card Modding Gilgamesh card, replay the guy on Ragnorak and winning it back and doing it all over again = win.

Delita was the biggest bastard in the game, including Algus. I regret there is no bonus campaign where you get to smash his face in,

FFIV:
DS - Wtf with difficulty. I'm way ahead of the lvl curve and I'm wiping left and right on Mt. Hobbs.
PSone - Loading times blow. The CGI is garbage.
GBA - the revamped music sucks ass.

I oppose all of the ff4 remakes because all the new portraits of Cecil make him look like an emaciated woman.
Honestly though, play it on snes emulator. Hold down the speed key to blaze through leveling up and autoattacking monsters (there is lots of this.)
