Wait, wait wait wait. A Dance with Dragons is hitting shelves in September? WHY WASN'T I INFORMED?
EDIT: I can't find this release date listed anywhere besides Amazon - not on GRRM's website, not on fansites... one fansite went so far as to say that the 9/30 date on Amazon is blatantly false. Barristan, back up your claim! I crave more info.

And for the record, Nymeros (another poster on these boards) stole his name from that book series as well. Nymeria (sp? Quoting from memory...) is the name of one of the main character's pet wolf.

For anyone who has heard of the series and has not read it for whatever reason, just do it. I'm normally not a fantasy novel fan, but this series has me hooked like a fish. An event in A Storm of Swords made me hurl my book across the room - that's how into it I was/am. Guillex, Joren, and everyone else on the fence: buy A Game of Thrones and read it. If you're not at least mildy entertained by the end of the book, I'll eat my hat.

When i was looking for a funny palladin it was the first name that blinked into my mind ...
So that's it ...
then i found myself choosing names from JRR elven tradition ...
but it didnt last
then i choose Dspear for my rogue, and it was ment dspair ... but i'm bad at english and u should know ...
then i choose Faafaroa for my dren warr ... it seems to be fitting ... i was just back from my polyneasian vacation ...
then ....
...
well u see .. there's no specific clue ...

and btw i choose all the names for my wife toons ...

Every time I need a new name for a char, I usually fire up either the old English>Japanese translator or the English>Latin translator and stick in words vaguely related to the class till I get something I like.

Praetorae = sorta close to PRÆTORIANI, which were an elite body of guards tasked with defending the Emperor of Rome. Thought this sounded sorta like a paladin when I made my toon.

Arrashi = translates roughly into 'tempest' or 'big storm' in Japanese (so I am led to believe). Seemed fitting for a shaman alt.

Tataki = More Japanese, means war/assault (or thereabouts) and is used atm on my up and coming warrior char.

One advantage/disadvantage of my main chars name is that I've ended up being known as Mr P on vent and in typing as nobody can be bothered to type/say Praetorae properly

OffTopic: My favourite name so far from Maintankadin has got to be Rorschach. Partly for how IMBA it sounds as a word and partly for the excellent 'Watchmen' graphic novel reference!

Oh I agree Snake-Aes,

However it was too much for an old raid-leader of mine who just ended up saying Mr P every time he needed me to tank something. Just sorta stuck.

Does mean that quite often I turn up to BT wearing my pimpin Gold chain.

I used to use the name Equiem on other mmo's..
I just randomly typed in Kaedyn cuz i like how the "ae" looks.
All my other toons ended up getting names that start with "K" after Kaedyn.. Now everyone on my server just calls me Kae or K.. which makes it simple when on alts haha..
I also made a toon with my buddy.. we did a holy priest and prot pally combo and named them Munkir and Nakir, which are the angels of justice that visit people in their grave and determine where they deserve to go in the afterlife.

I can tell you that having the same/similar name in a book doesn't necessarily mean the person has read the book. I played FFXI with someone named Rand. To him, it was just a random name, and for the first few months had no idea what people were talking about when people would whisper him with random Wheel of Time quotes.
