Magtheridon
Hey All,
Currently dragging my guys through the content with Kara on Farm and 2 downings of Gruul thus far (HKM is on Farm)
Gruul is pretty much sorted now, just need to tweak our perfomance a tad.
What I wanted to ask is, word is that Mag is a waste of time, and I am better just taking the lads into SSC straight away? Is there any truth in this?
I understand Mag has some kind of box clicky thing that can cause a silly wipe if someone isnt on the ball.
Anyone recommend avoiding it? Or anyone recommend going?
Cheers for the advice in advance,
Alex.

Last thursday, I went with a group of my fellows to to SSC and downed the first four bosses.
Last Friday I went with a group to Magtheridon and wiped six-seven times before downing him. It's a tricky fight requiring a bunch of people being ready to click cubes at the right time. If the clickers don't do it, or die to the DoT whilst doing it, or die just before they do it and the back-up doesn't twig, then it's a wipe.
We started training Maggy a couple of months before we first started SSC...
Honestly, unless you desperately wanna be "Champion of the Naaru", then bypass it. There's better chests in ZA/Badge rewards now and the other rewards are kinda meh.

Its a damn easy and quick boss once your guild gets the strat down. 4 easy packs of mobs and then the boss.
Only problem we had at 1st was having enough tanks online but doesnt seem to be an issue anymore with so many ferals. Once you have the clicking sorted its very simple. Untill you get the clicking sorted its a raid wipe every time 1 out of 12? people messes up.

Assuming you have tanks that have the resistance gear for Hydross, then yeah, you can dive straight into SSC. If not, you've got two bosses worth of trash (about 10 pulls all things told) to get to the second boss, The Lurker Below.

Don't worry about not having resist gear for Hydross. When we got Gruul on farm, we just went straight for SSC. We then proceeded to get Lurker on farm in a couple of weeks, then two-shotted Tidewalker and started attempts on Karathress. It was only after this that we went on to take on Void Reaver. Void Reaver himself is not that hard, any guild with Gruuls on farm could take him, but the trash before him can be brutal, which is why we waited.
We only just beat Hydross yesterday, since it took a while to get all the resist gear together, and we already have lurker, tidewalker, karathress, and VR on farm.
However, now that I have seen Solarian's trash and one-shotted her our first attempt, I can definitely see a guild farming her and shortly VR before setting foot in SSC.
So, in summary of my ramblings, SSC has easier trash and harder bosses, while TK has harder trash and easier bosses.

Great stuff, cheers man.
Think we are gonna have a shot at Lurker - I dont want to start spreading too much over the instances, always find it best to take on 1 boss at a time.
Of course theres always that Doomwalker chap too
Thanks for the advice anyway gentlemen.

We 'cheat' with lurker. Water walking and bubble a couple locks and run across to water to the pipe leading upto lurker trash. Summon everyone else
Priests & Mages can get waterwalking and levitate / slow fall down.
Just means you dont have to do hydross trash if you are just planning to do Lurker

As stated above, it's a quick run to do it once you figure everything out.
We set up a macro that would put a target icon above each of the clicker's head. One macro for the first clickers and one for the second clickers.
It does a few things that make the clicking part easy:
1) reminded people they are supposed to be clicking
2) at a glance you will know if a clicker is out of place so you could either yell at them or cover for them.
3) You can assign healers to keep clickers up by symbol
The macro is something like:
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("Joe", 1);
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("Lore",2);
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("Sue",3);
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("Thrall",4);
/script SetRaidTargetIcon("Dorvan",5);
Just replace the names in the script with your clickers and make a similar macro for the other set of clickers.
