When everyone is spread out, it only hits those that are close enough, if you bring them together, it will hit the whole raid (all within 30yards). But afaik it is stunnable, so if you keep classes that can interrupt them it should work.

So I tanked 2 adds for the start today untill the warrior tanking the first add taunted it off me when his add was dead. Indeed hits for 5k max. Easy to tank np.
My real problem lies with the mobs before u enter Mags room. They resisted 80% and above of my SOR judgements and about 100% of my taunts. Has anyone encountered that there as well. If I would get 1 single deathcoil I had almost no chance of getting the mob back due to high amounts of resists. And that happened on 2 of the 4 packs as I got deathcoiled there. No threat issues on the other packs though.

Just one piece of empirical fact...I remember a lot of taunt resists back in the days, too. But this had ben months before and I dunno how the mobs are there now.
Standing alone with no direction
How did I fall so far behind?
Why Am I searching for perfection?
Knowing it's something I won't find

I tanked this guy Thursday, he hits very hard and harder than other bosses I've seen. 20k Raid buffed HP, 16.5k Ar, 250 SD, 21% Dodge, 15.5% Parry, 26.5% Block, 445 BV.
I tanked Warlock 1 & 2, AS the first one, Hunter Misdirect the other to me, 2 interrupts on each (One for Heal, one for Volley) then helped with Infernals until Mag came out, picked him up no problem, moved him between 1 & 2 and tanked him there, his spike damage is pretty intense and is something to really look out for, I use Nightmare Seeds the whole fight to put me at 22k HP, still very spikey.
Why is it everyone says let the Warriors tank this one? do they have better mitigation than us in the same gear? Or do mobs just have a mechanic where they hit Paladins harder because we are Paladins?

Maintanked Mag
My guild just got Magtheridon down for the first time this week and I maintanked him. So don't let them say we can't do it.
There were a couple clutch moments where a potion or healthstone saved my bacon - and I had debris on me when he was under 30% - I think I barely moved in time, took dmg spike while moving to avoid it and used Lay Hands to keep myself up.
They had a dps warrior on warlock #1, I tanked #2 and 3 which were down a good 20-25 seconds before magtheridon was released.
Really fun fight once people know how to click the cubes.

We can put up more threat than the other tanks, and can tank the 2nd add without too much extra troubles at the same time. After our targets are down, we are better at picking up the various targets (remember, Exorcism works on them) than warriors are.
Not saying paladins cannot tank the last add or Maggy himself, but it's not playing into your strengths.
so should a pally tank even bother with it?
I'd argue a demon boss with a known burst damage limit of about 17k damage very much plays into our strenghts.
Not to mention the pickup which paladin tanks handle 10 times safer than anyone else due to consecration.
So very true.
To be honest. I don't see why a Paladin tank wouldn't take out two channelers at the start. Free up a 5th tank with another dps. Plus with a demon boss. More threat for dps to go crazy with.
Sure, we miss shield wall during debris, but I just blow my pocketwatch at 30%.
In short. This is a fight we are just as good as warriors at main tanking.

i maintanked mag last night for our first progression kill, it was really fun. I got low a few times but healers topped me up, was at 21.3k raid buffed, 23.2k with nightmare seed. we had 2 fury wars, a druid, a prot warr and me on the adds at the start, weaker fury warr took first add, i took 2nd then the other 3 took the last, easy pick up on mage, 4 seconds till release hs, 2-3 seconds consecrated, as soon as hes out judge and exorcism and hes mine
, pull back to wall, pop wings when exorcism is off cooldown and sotc is up. got a nice lead and switched over to suneater with mongoose.
In Progress: Fury Warrior: Tailwhip
All Retired: Holy Priest:Appletons | DK Blood Tank: Dreadborne | Prot Paladin: Welsh
