Soul Scream should always be kicked or am I getting this wrong?

thats Spite in phase 2, not Soul Scream in phase 3.

You're still off. Spirit Shock gets kicked in phase 2, Deaden gets reflected. Spite's a single target nature damage hit in phase 3.

Bit of a bump. I tanked phase 3 tonight for our second kill, really went off without a hitch. Threat was through the roof, and the soul screams weren't hitting very hard. However, this was all perceived in my mind. I'll have a parse to go through and hopefully some data for warrior vs pally tank on this tomorrow, if I get time :/

Edit: I need to learn to spell the word "roof." Must have been late.

Not a problem with prompt topping off. Typically gained back enough to do another rotation of HS, Consecrate, Judge and Reseal before being oom.

Okay, had time to go through my two parses in detail. Granted, this statistical comparison is flawed due to the fact that I ended up tanking on both our first and second kills, so more attempts or parses are needed. Splug, if you get bored, could you post some of your warrior parses of this fight for us to compare to?

Me tanking Phase 3:
http://wowwebstats.com/e3obdjb53yyy3?s=10566-10669

Warrior tanking part of Phase 3:
http://wowwebstats.com/kblcoym1nkdxi?s=11277-11401

Be aware that we are both in block value gear from phase 1 (we weren't able to swap at any stage :( )

Comparisons:
Melee Damage......Total......Avg......Max
Selik:..................96234......5660.....8215(c)
Jerry1:.................81019......5401.....6600
Jerry2:.................106239....5591.....6688

(This will be flawed because Selik got dropped, but I'll get to that)

Shadow Damage.....Total.....Avg......Max
Selik:....................91394.....4739....8460
Jerry1:..................105356....3331...4119
Jerry2:..................93378......2299...4261

Parse 1 Soul Scream
Hits.....22
Avg.....4227
Max.....8460

Parse 2 Soul Scream
Hits.....20
Avg.....2558
Max.....7334

Parse 1, the max hit soul scream hit the MT, at which point he got dropped and I picked it up.

254 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Selik for 2646 Shadow damage
255 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Selik for 8460 Shadow damage
07:09'48.613 Selik dies

On parse 2, that max hit soul scream hit our phase 2 MT after he pulled agro (my fault, more than likely)

590 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Dawgg for 2438 Shadow damage
591 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Dawgg for 7334 Shadow damage
993 Dawgg dies

Full rage soul screams for the loss.

Part of the ambiguity for how hard soul screams are hitting has to do with the way things get parsed. For some reason, soul screams essentially hit twice. Here is my first soul scream of the second parse:

577 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Jerrycakes for 2945 Shadow damage
602 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Jerrycakes for 4261 Shadow damage

I can definitely mitigate that by hitting RF to drop a bunch of mana. The next subsequent scream looked like:

812 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Jerrycakes for 1085 Shadow damage
812 Essence of Anger's Soul Scream hits Jerrycakes for 2906 Shadow damage

Conclusion: I can't really make one without more data, but it looks like pally tanking for phase 3 is kind of the easymode way to do it. The only times I spiked in damage was when I popped a mana pot. However, it does require that your healers be on the spot with topping you off, because you not only depend on it to keep tanking, but you depend on it to get your next threat rotation off before the next scream.

I'm not sure if the hunter who normally posts our WWS stuff has data for that particular encounter, but I think one of our paladins does. I'll see what I can dig up over the weekend, but I may not see a few people until our next raid on Sunday.

First one is the base Shadow damage Scream does.
Second one is the power-burn damage.

If you got hit while at zero mana it would only show one hit.

Ah, that makes sense now. Shows how the first hit varies so little and the second varies so widely.
