I'm Tanking Flames of Azzinoth
I know there are quite a few threads on this but I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for you help me.
My guild is on Illidan, down council tonight. So I'm working more on my Flame of Azzinoth tanking gear.
Here's my issue I have the Badge items so obviously won't take me to cap, also besides getting for resistance I need to be uncritable.
Here's my current setup: http://www.warcrafter.net/sandbox/89367
I'm having a hard time thinking of the math of necessary resiliance needed to be uncritable with that amount of Defense I currently have. So if you can help me out there. Also any suggestions on gear. I know gear is a big effort so the easiest and best if possible is appreciated.
If there is a thread to answer my questions directly I would appreciate a foward to the place. Thank you.

I tanked the flames with 460 defence for months, i took 1 crit. which was for 4k (oooh scary).
Just get fire res capped (365), then as much hp > dodge > parry as possible. and then focus on more defence.
I started out with 14k unbuffed in fire res, and worked it up to 17k unbuffed for the latter trys.
Just ensure you have a druid + paladin or priest + paladin focus healing on you and the same for the other tank. The hots and shields will keep your hp stable, and the paladin heals the spikes (non stop HL spam).
You wont have mana issues
they hit for 2k (1.5sec?), the green patches do 2k/sec and the blue flames do ~500/sec.

You get 0.04% crit reduction per point of defence above 350.
So 434-350x 0.04 = 3.36% crit reduction
Resilience = 2.23 (according to warcrafter)
= 5.59%
But bearing in mind you've probably enchanted your helm with some defence, that should make you uncrittable.

Or, just use this:
For every point you are under 490, divide by 0.625 and you get how much resilience you need.
You said you have 434 defense?
(490-434)/0.625 = 89.6 Resilience rating needed to be uncritable also.
Fun thing about resilience it reduces the flame patch damage also by a bit. Not a whole lot, but still. Altho going for resil means you have less EH and a bit less avoidance.

40 resil * 0.625 = 25 defense skill (for crit reduction)
25 defense skill / 0.625 = 40 resilience needed
2.4 defense rating is 1 defense skill
25 * 2.4 = 60 defense rating
40 resilience gives you the same crit reduction as 60 defense rating. But you lose out on 3% avoidance while gaining 2.08% DoT reduction (flame patches)
Also resilience is easier to get than pure defense rating. It's all up to how you want to gear for it. Some prefer resilience, some prefer just swaping in fire res gear, some prefer being critable.

Oops you're right!
I forgot about rating compared to skill. ^^

I did make a thread about this in this forum section where I posted the stats that I found were working for me when tanking one of these.
Just scroll down a bit and you'll find it.
