The only way for thrall to die is by your mt dying and all the dps above thralls threat, then having the boss beating on thrall for well over a minute, since they fixed jaina/thrall taking aoe damage they're pretty damn durable, our first kill involved thrall, me training doomguards and a holy paladin healing me :P

How do you guys deal with the fact that the doomguards basically chain stun you when you get more than 1 on you? Do you have a dps assigned to kill them? The strat we tried was to let them stack up but it didn't work out because between the silence and the doomguard stunlock (no dodges/blocks/parries :(), my healer couldn't keep up.

I think someone mentioned earlier they were using free action potions for the first 30 seconds until someone could pull one off

Use some melee dps/hunters pets/bm hunters(cant outrange RoF, and our bm hunter lacks brain capacity), 2 or 3 at most to dps the doomguards, they can go azgalor @ 20% and you can keep whatever comes from then on

Doom is definitely outrangable.
100y is hard to judge though. We actually tank Azgalor JUST inside the camp, and use the taurens and thrall on the doomguards so I can solo tank them with 1 healer with ease.
At about 20-30% I dump the NPCs on Azgalor and run like crap (still tanking the doomguards) so I don't get doomed.
I'm 100% sure doom is outrangable because I have been doomed, but only whilst moving in at low %s.

so assuming thrall doesn't die from the rain of fire, whats the real advantage of tanking azgalor next to thrall compared to tanking the boss next to the tauren camp?

and you could have your melee's on doomguard duty using either tactic right? so where's the big difference?^^

The main advantage of the tauren camp for me is I can send the melee to the boss @ 20-30% and have an extra doomguard tanked by the taurens, or have one tanked by the taurens so I can regen mana, there's plenty of them, so if 1 dies, no big deal (they wont die though :p)

The standard difference is that Taurens will die by the RoF, Thrall wont. Also to me looks like Tauren have more DPS than Thrall's crew, but that might be just a false impression.

Our raid leader is now suggesting a kind of brutal tactic which involves having thrall and the tauren on the boss and only 2-3 melees (plus tanks & healer) on the doomguards.

for me, as i have no experience with this encounter (yet) it sounds like it could work if the fight is over very quickly. still i wanted to check what you guys think of it.^^

We tank him amongst the taurens, there aren't that much help, the positioning is more so that we can use Thrall and the NPCs around him for the Doomguards and so the offtanks and offtank healers can be 100yards away from him to avoid Doom. During the waves we focus on saving as many NPCs around Thrall as possible from Infernals etc.

This fight is always slightly easier the first time you do it, cause there is a group of NPC walking from above down to Thrall and before mid-fight they will reach your Doomguard camp and almost all of them are ranged dps (and totems that heals a lot), they will help down the Doomguards really fast, however, this pack does not respawn if you wipe.

If DPS on Doomguards is low, you should have hunter pets (they die instantly in the rain of fire anyway) on them as well, and position the hunters so they can run a short distance and help nuke the Doomguards down of needed. Offtank should never have more than 2 Doomguards on him at the same time.

A tip is to spread out and give everyone a set position before you start the trash waves, so that everyone knows where to stand, we have this on farm, but still do this positioning.

Use SS and Combat Res to get the ppl that get Doom up. We have had kills with everyone alive at the end, a few shamans got it, SS and CR used and it is also possible to resist the Doom.

On our first attempt (and triumph), he went and doom pretty every single healer. Thrall tank him from 6% onward, and managed to tank 3 doomguards for a while before dying. Good thing the loot is still lootable.

If you tank the doomguards 100y away, will you still be able to get to the loot or do you have to run back before Azgalor dies?

We tank the boss by thrall and the doomguards by the tauren warriors. Seems to work fine. Only problem is Thrall keeps wandering to the front of the boss and eating cleaves - WTB AI upgrade for thrall

Just hang around at the start and cast exorcism on Azgalor once your MT has aggro then move to your doomguard spot. That's all you need to get on his aggro list for loot.
