Kael Weapons

Two questions, What weapons do other prot pallies pick up and how much aoe do you guys bring, my guild is bringing 6-7 locks/mages and we cant even get close to downing the weapons with aoe.

We bring 2 Locks/4 mages typically. I tank Mace, sword, daggers, OT gets axe, hunters get bow. Burst down Staff with no tank, then begin AoE, single target mace, MT taunts it off at 30% to bring to healers, continue DPS, then MT taunts shield off if we're not going to get it down before Telonicus, I taunt Axe, OT heads for Sanguinar, and thats all she wrote.

Edit: I get shield too for a second till out MT finds it in the pack. We typically end up with shield at 20-30% and Axe at 50% on a normal kill going into P3, just Dot up the Axe and finish off shield before moving to Thala/Telon.

My old guild (never done kael with new one) used to use the focus fire method, we failed at aoe and focus fire just worked for us.

As for weps i took the healing mace as it had a ton more +dmg than my blue wep plus i could throw off heals after engi was down

I used to grab the Shield, the Daggers and the Sword, and sometimes the healing Mace also, which was focused by single target DPS to make sure it was down before the rest for healers to grab it ASAP and be able to get in place for P3.

We use 3 tanks, I take sword + dagger (shield usually glue to me as well). All locks cast curse of doom on the shield and all shamans pop their elementals. Lately we've had all but shield down at start of phase 3 and it's at 20% or so.

The most common fail is at the start of phase 3, that's what normally wipes us... downed kael 2 times now and got 33 ppl with his vial, so plenty of new ppl on 2nd kill as well.

Yea, we've run 3 tanks, 6 healers all successful downings. I'm not sure why you'd need 4. I think 2 would technically work if you were feeling saucy, but your dps would have to be on par to drop shield prior to p3 or difficulties could arise.

You should take:
-The Shield (mandatory if you MT Kael'thas himself)
-Healing Mace (Quite a bit of spelldammage and redemptory buff)
-Dagger (For your Prot Warrior Pals that didn't get the chance to grab one)
