Tanking is THE most gear-intensive position in this game. If you want to have a raid be willing to put you in front of the big nasties, then you *must* put in the effort in getting the absolute best gear, gems, and enchants possible in order to do that.

Yes, it's very expensive to do. Welcome to tanking.
