Karazhan - Curator
Curator will be your first "real" test as an MT. He can hit pretty hard and slow, and has a instacast shock spell. He summons little astral flares every 10 seconds or so which are hard for anyone to tank and have a chain lightning attack. Best is to not bother tanking them at all, letting melee dps kill them quickly.
He also does a hatefull bolt spell which will automatically target the member on his threat list who has the highest HP. We use a lock with arcane resist set and imp out, keeping him topped off to make sure he gets the next bolt.
Tank curator down the middle of the hallway, kill the adds in the center of the hallway but close enough to the door so the tank doesn't get hit with chain lightning. Position healers on one side of the hallway near door, ranged dps on the other.
After he spawns 10 or so astral flares, he will be out of mana and use evocation. While he does this, he takes 200% damage and doesn't attack. Make sure to save up avenging wrath for this. Use it, drop consecrate, step back 20 yards ( he's rooted while evocating ) and throw your avengers shiled, judge SoR or SoV depending on what you're using, run back up to him, consecrate again, then hit holy shield since he immediately attacks at the end of the evocation. As silly as it sounds, you can actually help quite a bit with the damage needed to be done during evocation.
When he gets to 15% he'll enrage, doing more damage and faster. Have pots / healthstones / LoH ready, it can hurt.

This week we had our Shaman, who finally go to 70, Frost Shock the Flares, it worked pretty well for gathering them up and keeping them off the healers and DPS.
The only problem we had was the fact that he was Enhance and didn't have very good Spell Damage/Regen gear so he had mana issues here and there. I ended up giving him a BoW, some Nightfin Soup, a charge of my Mana Oil and a couple of mana pots which helped a lot.
Don't ask me why he came to KZ without mana pots.

The hateful bolt hits whoever is on second aggro. Your group can arrange it to be anyone as long as they can make sure they are 2nd on his threat list. If a second tank or warlock can maintain that amount of threat, they can also wear a crazy arcane resist set to reduce the damage by a lot. I've heard a shadow priest on second aggro is awesome because during the Curator's evocate they can basically regen the raid to full.

Nope, he will hateful bolt whoever is on his agro list with the highest HP. We use a lock for this with lots of arcane resist gear ( 330, i believe ) who has nearly no agro because he spends the whole time keeping himself alive with drain life or whatever. The mage, on the other hand, is spam casting fire spells in full spellstrike, so I know for a fact the mage is second on agro, yet the hateful bolt always goes to the warlock.

We've had the hateful bolt target switch in the middle of a fight, presumably there wouldn't have been any changes in max hp then. It might be a combination of hp and threat and proximity, as seems to be the theory on wowwiki.com.
In that one fight, I was OTing trying to stay on second aggro. I had a ton of AR on though so, wasn't getting enough heals to stay on top of threat. I eventually lost his hateful bolts for a while and they went to the warlock, who is always second on aggro on bosses and on fights, for a little while until he stopped DPSing.

It's not just max hp, but how much HP you currently have... It will switch easily if whoever is supposed to be taking the bolts is at 1/2 health when the next one comes. If you have the highest max HP ( other than tank ), but aren't healed, you wont get hateful bolt regardless of agro.
Like I said, we use a warlock who self heals and has a assigned healer who also watches out for melee on the adds, and have never had hateful bolt hit anyone else. His threat from life drain or soulshatter or whatever he uses is minimal, and he does almost 0 DPS for the entire fight, yet he always eats the bolts because he has over 12k hp and always stays topped off. Even though there are people far higher on the threat list, including healers more than likely, no one else gets hit with it.

yeah we used a warlock to eat them too last night, and i MTed it, our warrior wasn't there but it didn't show much...
When i was OTing it (eating bolts) i was staying 2nd on aggro because we didnt know for sure if threat had something to do..
But with me healing myself a bit and healers keeping me topped off i was getting them no matter if it was HP or aggro related... Since that worked we didnt changed it. Till last night.

Well, I got my first taste of real Karazhan tanking tonight
(I'd been there previously, but only tanked on trash and healed on bosses). Tanked Midnight and Moroes with no issues (ended up being MT on Moroes). We went back and forth between a couple strats on Curator, but finally would up having me tank him while our Warrior was on the adds. I thought I'd share this little snippet from the combat log on my first attempt at tanking him:
Your Judgement of Righteousness hits the Curator for 386.
The Curator hits you for 4483 (crushing).
You gain 1 extra attack through Reckoning.
You hit The Curator for 80 (glancing).
You hit The Curator for 90.
You gain 74 Mana from Judgement of Wisdom.
Your equipped items suffer a 10% durability loss.
You die.
Yay instant casts....
Anyway, I was much more careful about instants on my subsequent tries (plus a lot of right-click spamming) and we got him to 12%. We'll finish him tomorrow, I just thought I'd share (in part because I'm pretty happy with my first night of raid tanking and in part to share my annoyance at the lovely instant cast bug =P).
Oh, and in terms of strategy ideas...I saved my AW for evocates to help with whatever damage I could there. I need to pay closer attention my timers, but I'm gonna start putting up JotC about 15 sec before each evocate for even more damage (I usually run JoW). I might try running SoV as well for some nice JoVs during the evocate, but we'll see about that part.

Hm, I logged my combat data last night, and I was just looking over our 12% run again whne I noticed this oddity:
4/6 23:48:38.859 The Curator hits you for 2529. (234 blocked)
4/6 23:48:38.984 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:39.062 Zagato 's Auto Shot hits The Curator for 493.
4/6 23:48:39.062 Kylara 's Multi-Shot hits Astral Flare for 807.
4/6 23:48:39.062 Arianne gains 1703 Mana from Arianne 's Life Tap.
4/6 23:48:39.203 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:39.421 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:39.421 The Curator suffers 237 Shadow damage from Arianne 's Siphon Life.
4/6 23:48:39.421 Arianne 's Shadow Bolt hits Astral Flare for 1911 Shadow damage.
4/6 23:48:39.421 Kylara 's Auto Shot hits Astral Flare for 555.
4/6 23:48:39.437 Your Holy Shield hits The Curator for 166 Holy damage.
4/6 23:48:39.437 Astral Flare 's Arcing Sear hits Lamontster for 671 Arcane damage.
4/6 23:48:39.453 Lamontster 's Heroic Strike crits Astral Flare for 526.
4/6 23:48:39.453 Arianne 's Siphon Life heals Arianne for 298.
4/6 23:48:39.468 Zagato 's Arcane Shot hits Astral Flare for 621 Arcane damage.
4/6 23:48:39.484 Rivermaiden begins to cast Holy Light.
4/6 23:48:39.484 You hit The Curator for 97. (glancing)
4/6 23:48:39.593 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:39.781 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:39.843 Rivermaiden gains Light's Grace.
4/6 23:48:39.843 Your equipped items suffer a 10% durability loss.
4/6 23:48:39.843 The Curator 's Arcane Infusion hits you for 2007 Arcane damage.
4/6 23:48:39.875 Your Seal of Righteousness hits The Curator for 70 Holy damage. (23 resisted)
4/6 23:48:39.968 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:40.171 Achanar gains 49 Mana from Rivermaiden 's Greater Blessing of Wisdom.
4/6 23:48:40.250 You fail to cast Judgement: Not yet recovered.
4/6 23:48:40.406 You die.
It looks like I was killed by 2 hits: a blocked attack for 2529 and an Arcane Infusion for 2007. The thing is...I was running at around 14.1k HP. Thus AD should've kicked in for that second blow. I unfortunately don't have HP levels to correlate with this data, but regardless that last blow shoud've been halved as far as I can tell, since my AD threashold would've been at just over 2.8k.
Infusions were hitting between 1.5k and 2.5k and regular hit for 2k to 3.4k, so those numbers in the log definitely aren't halved. Without the HP logged I can't say whether that would've been enough for me to survive that last hit, but I'm not sure what happened there. Any ideas? I can post a few more seconds of earlier log info if that'd be helpful.

Sounds like another thread is needed in the bug-forum... dunno why Blizz couldn't make AD reduce 25% damage at 40% hp and 50% dam at 20% hp... no way OP and more reliable. :/
Being leapfrogged is bad enough, but having the talent ignored completely? Aiaiaiii
Better go and report it in Bug Forum mate.

not entirely on topic, but if your dps isn't too postion sensitive (hunters mainly), you don't have to shock at the cooldown (as a shaman) to hold them, only one shock or so to pick them up.

What do you guys do if you're not MT on this guy? Just try and build secondary threat to eat HB's, or switch out into healing gear and heal the dps?
