Mana Tombs Escort Quest

Did anyone else have trouble getting this quest done? I've attempted it everytime I've been into the instance(which is a lot since I farmed the hell out of it for the shield that drops off Pandemonious). We get to the pull with the two big shadow guys(who's names escape me), and the couple of groups of mana wyrms, and let me tell you what, I can tank the two shadow dudes(they seem to be linked), but the wryms won't stay on me, and they go destroy everyone else. How do I deal with this? Any tips for dealing with this pull, cause those boots are great upgrades for me, and I really want them. Especially since they're the ones everyone recommends for getting Uncrit/Uncrush before Kara.

You should be able to fear them since the 2.4 patch.
Maybe it can be of some use.

Been a while since I've done it, but if I remember correctly you can clear the mana wyrms before you do the escort quest, they're not spawned by the quest. Might be wrong.

Yeah, they're all spawned by the quest. I've cleared the whole instance , then gone back to do the quest, and wham, there they are. Really a pain in my ass these things are.

While it's been a while for me too, I believe this is correct. Much like Eranikus in Sunken Temple, the importance of clearing all the trash cannot be understated. However, if you do see some uncleared trash, run up and attack it ahead of the group. Then the NPC will come help you, but he will not do the emotes that will summon more mobs until the fight is over. The quest is a bit of a pain, but Consecrate and AoE should account for everything fairly well. No reason not to tank all the mobs at once. Tell your DPS to give you a second if they're grabbing the mobs off you somehow, although Mana Wyrms, at least, die pretty quickly under focus fire.

I think the OP may be trying to do the escort before he has completed the rest of the instance.

Every group I've ever tried it on, we went all the way through the instance and then doubled back to do it.. sadly, in all my groups someone started it before we were ready >.<

Edit : and I really should read the entire thread.. missed his post...

Some of those mana wyrm packs are totally skipped by many groups doing the instance, it is possible that you missed one, I know I have before.

Really? Everytime I've run it I swear I've cleared all the Wyrms and yet during the escort quest there they are. Is there a respawn timer on trash in the instance or something?

There are respawn timers for some mobs, like the big felguard things in SL.

But the worms, no clue honestly.
Never seen them while doing the escort quest if we've killed them already.
