New Tankadin - Auras

Have a little spar going with a Pally tank friend.

In 5 mans and heroics, what aura is recommended? I thought Ret, but is it devotion?

As of right now, I use Ret Aura for 5 mans, and since I am just starting to get my hands into Heroics, I use devotion for the little bit of extra armor.

Its personal preference and depends upon your gear. If you arent feeling you need extra armor and would like more threat then Ret.

WELL ISN'T THAT AN EASY ANSWER.

You should know when to use which.

If they hit hard -> devo
If they just hit -> ret

For me, normal 5mans is *always* ret. Heroics, I use a RNG.

Yeah, once I got 2t5 I started using ret aura more in heroics and on raid trash. Typically, I don't need devo in heroics. Can't relly complain about mroe thret either.

I almost always use devo in heroics. Even 1% mitigation is a ton of damage reduced.

And really, threat isn't an issue.

It's an issue if you are still new to tanking as a paladin, as I am. I don't even know yet what kind of threat I'm going to have. Tanking, I haven't even did it yet. Still!

I usually run Ret (and BoSanc) to keep my threat high. I usually switch to Devo on bosses, unless my healer impresses me enough that I don't feel I need to (or I just forget).

Haven't hit heroics yet, but I expect to run Devo there for awhile. At least until my healer tells me to start stripping in heroics...(I was told to strip the othe day in Botanica, as I was pretty much tanking with full health and no mana because I was taking so little damage).

I had to install that power aura thing just to keep track of that. It whines at me any time I'm in combat with crusader aura.

I use that for RF, but not for Crusader cuz I don't really care =D

The Tankadin addon screen flash when RF drops is usually enough for me :X

Oh wow I need to grab that Addon, I always forget to check how long I have left with RF.

And as far as crusader Aura goes, I still forget to switch it some runs, normally now in a standard 5 man, if asked why I reply "Its to speed up our run"

On a side note its not always advised to tank the last Kara fights with crusader Aura, but I was in a group with 3 other palys so someone needed to use it
