Mana Tombs Escort - Bugged?

I'm gearing up for kara and want flesh beast's metal greaves... bad! However, every time I try to start the escort quest, the escort NPC despawns and I fail instantly. Is it bugged? Or am I doing something wrong? I come back after doing the last boss, though I don't completely clear the instance of mobs - is that the secret? Help me out!

Took me 5 runs to get the escort done.
When it did work someone else started it!

I cant give you any tips sadly, but I can sympathize that it seems the quest doesnt start properly.

I can't rember exactly since it's a long since I've done it. Clearing all the adds before starting this will make things alot more easier. If i remember right the escort goes all the back to near the entrance of the instance. Also you only get one shot at it per run, so the escort dies you'll have reset the instance and try again.

It's a long time since I've done it too, but I remember having such problems (quest fail instantly) after having fail a first time (NPC dying) and not having drop the quest before trying another time. Maybe you've got same problem (not dropping the quest after failure) ?

Last time I did it, we started the escort while the two guards in the back of the room were still up (and everything beyond them) so it's nothing that simple.

You don't need to clear anything past the start point for the escort, but you need to kill everything before it. The escort nps deliberately walks though pretty much everything that can be skipped, so it's wise to clear out the whole place beforehand.

I found it very hard to get a group to do the escort itself. You would kill the prince, then someone would get tired and leave, and no one would want to just jump in and help for only the escort.

It took me insisting that I would leave if the escort would not get done before Prince before any group would consider it and do it more than just a half hearted attempt. Just be firm and insist that's what you want to do, and it does not take long if you have been clearing it all.

As for the quest bugging, apart from dropping and retaking up the quest I can't really recommend anything else.
