Ooming and how to avoid it?
Hey Guys
Been reading and learning on this forum for quite a while now.
I started my Paladin as prot and levelled her up (only 67 now though) cause I've been questing with a Mage friend of mine. So I pull, he AoE's. Easy
I've been doing quite a few instance runs to get used to tanking and the different strategies involved. I have never had a problem with ooming during a fight until last night. I did an Underbog run with a 70 DPS Warrior, 67 Enhancement Shammie, 63 Fire Mage and 65 Healing Paladin.
The problem arose from the beginning. I would pull mobs with AS, consecrate, do the usual routine. But I was hardly taking any damage when I had HS up. So without getting heals I was running out of mana so quickly.
I'm not sure if this is always a problem because when I did Durnholde I had no oom problems. If your avoiding most of the hits how do you get mana back then? Should I JoW the mobs (in this case though the mobs die so quickly I didnt have much mana regen from JoW anyways) and if I did this would I reduce threat? I was also thinking of using a lower rank AS or Consecrate? Does this work and if so how much reduction is there in your threat?
During the boss fights it was fine because I was taking enough damage to regain mana from heals, but during trash mobs I just oom'd so quickly.
Is there any other way to avoid ooming in fights like these?
My armory is http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... &n=Hamfast if you wanna check out my gear to see if I should make any changes
Thanks for any help.

Just watch your threat meter, if you are miles ahead of the DPS use a lower rank concecration, or just JoR and then SoW but dont Judge it so each hit you get mana back.
if people start to catch you on the threat meter, start using a higher rank Concecrate.

I tank most heroics with that now :pCandiru wrote:Press "x" it gets you more mana!
Or turn around and let the mobs hit you in the back
or equip your DPS shield (sporragar with shield spike)
Black Morass is fun

There are times I just don't use holy shield. When we are pulling trash to Attuneman (spelling?) I often times will stop using HS in the middle of the pull so I take more damage and get more mana.

You run into a crowd, and proceed to control it.

I guess the solution is to downgear. Start swapping out some avoidance gear for SD gear. It will make things go faster both because you don't have to drink and because you'll do more damage.
You could always imitate Invis and go with a 2h...

Doing a mid-60s dungeon at 70 is particularly tough. I'd just put on whatever gear gives you the most spelldamage and tear through it. Those mobs hit so weakly that you need just enough defense to not be crit, if that. You'll still want to pull multiple packs. For me, Mana-Tombs was the worst, with spellcasters spread far from each other.
For normal lvl 70s I do much the same, just making sure I have reasonably high HP and at least 480 def.
