(So I thought something like this might be helpful. Most of us have probably looked up our gear changes etc., but I thought it would be nice to have the ENTIRE list avaiable for people to look at, discuss, run through spreadsheets etc..)



Here I have listed every single tank epic, grouped according to zone level/item level as best as possible. I have added search keys for quick jumping instead of mass scrolling, listed next to the section in Contents.

To use a search key, use "Find" (press Ctrl+F, in internet explorer anyway) and type "#" followed by the key in, e.g.: #T5, which will jump you to the Tier 5 zone level gear. Tier sets don't have search keys as they are immediately below.

Comparison between current "warrior" gear:

Note: I don't currently know a great deal about threat stats relative to each other in 3.0 (guess it's hard to work out due to the constant changes) so the comparisons are my intuitive opinion. For simplicity, I assume no weird dimishing returns on avoidance (a discussion on which can be found here).

Analysis: Judicator's seem barely better overall but it's kind of a toss up: 10 Str and 33 BV vs 34 exp rating, but this depends on whether your already expertise dodge capped, if you are I would assume they are definatly better. They ARE definately better for off-tanking. They also have 1 more dodge rating.

Equip: Increases your dodge rating by 24 (1.27% @ L70).

Analysis: Against [Lightbringer Handguards], they are quite clearly an overall upgrade. Less base Str but you can socket for the threat deficiency. For threat, one should keep T6 gloves instead of these and for high avoidance situations, use T6 shoulders instead of Twins ones and use these gloves. Note, when you get ShoR at 75, T6 might be a better substitute for threat due to the high BV, but at 70, BV is no amount of threat.

Analysis: Thalassian Defender wins on all kind of levels (unless you are in dire need for block rating (? o.o)): 14 more Str, 6 more BV, equal avoidance.

Analysis: Before sockets, Judicator's is clearly better for threat, whilst Aversion is clearly better for avoidance (21 str vs 0.78% avoidance and 0.36% block). Either disparity can be made up for by gems, so it really breaks even depending on what stats you want to bulk up.

Analysis: Lol, all the warriors in my guild are screaming for the paladin helm. 6 str and 38 BV vs 1.08% avoidance. At this stage of the game a fuckton of extra avoidance kinda becomes (overall,) not so useful, especially for warriors.

Thelawyn, I would assume that T6 win tbh, ilevel 154 vs ilevel 141, it would be very bad design if T6 were worse . I will try to get comparisons going but atm my priority is to get the list completed.

Badge paladin vs. Warrior gear seems wise, seeing as those are the pieces most readily availiable for filling in defense gaps to get back to that precious 490.

Edit. I can see many items get defense values lowered (especially warrior stuff)... quite worrying concidering 20 def reduction. Some of us will have xtra fun getting our gear together to raid at 70. Also - Is it just me, or tuskguard got nerfed?

This list only covers tank style items. Spell power weapons won't change at all (as they're really caster weapons), only tank style armour and things will. Although, the current item changes seems to suggest things like weapons/rings/trinkets/librams etc stay as they are, with only actual armour changing.
