Tankadin2 - Dev Thread

Postby _Chloe » Sat Jul 05, 2008 1:17 pm

Started messing around with redoing the options frame this morning, came up with this:

Image

The Info Frame will have dynamic data, meaning you can pick what you want to show and it will adjust its height to match. You can pick from the following:

Miss
Dodge
Parry
Block
Block Value
Avoidance
Crushing %
Crushing % Colorized
Defense (Base)
Defense (Armor)
Defense (Total)
Resiliance
Holy Spell Damage
Armor
Effective Health
Effective Health w/Block @ 3000 Damage
Effective Health w/Block @ 10000 Damage
Total Damage Reduction

Also minimizing the frame will shrink it down to what the header is now except a bit skinnier. The Header itself will be deleted. Options frame is accessed by the slash command /tankadin. Currently, Tankadin only picks up and registers the highest rank of spells, ie AS and this version will be able to expand on that, allowing for any number of spells and ranks to be checked.

This is a lot of working going into this right now and things may change by the time a beta comes around for this. I'll be posting changes and more SS as they come along into this thread.

This is just the configuration window?

I'm rather fond of the basic display window's look - when I open it (its kind of big so I usually leave it closed). I'd hate to see that window change.

Did you try the Blizzard Optionsframe?
Having an extra window for the option for most of my addons annoys me, when there is already a centralized place for the options.

There are some addons with special needs for the options, but i hardly see where Tankadin would have these (if v2 isn't vastly different than v1).

On an 'Ace-fanboy' side note: AceConfigDialog-3.0 has a nifty function for this, 'AddToBlizOptions'.

Can we please add Crittability chance to the stats? There are many resist sets I use which require both resilience and Defense rating to reach uncrittable. It would be very nice to not have to manually calculate it each time I switch around gear.

Aslong as there is an option to change the color of the frames I am happy...I prefer a blue tankadin over the default yellow

I really like the regular Tankadin. I would like a crittability thing, too, but I also want to be able to toggle it. 99% of the time it'll say 0% anyway.

EDIT: And it'd be cool if the options were in the Addon Options thing Blizzard added last patch. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if all my addons were like that.
I rule.

I'm still new, and I havent tried this addon yet (I only just found out about it today, actually. I'm installing it when i get home :) ) but from looking at the FAQ of the previous version that you posted, here's something i'd really like to see:

Varying levels. So maybe like, have three settings that you can chose from at any given time:
-At current level (so, same level as the player, whatever that may be)
-Boss level (for skull enemies)
-Set level (gives a field where you can enter the level of enemy that you want to check out. Useful if you're going into an area where you know the enemies are going to be a certain level).

I just think that this would really open up the addon and make it more useful for all levels, not just engame :)

That's what I'm desgining it for. There will be a slider to set the mob level from -3 to +3 for yours. The original Tankadin was meant for level 70 raiders. The new version will be for expansion leveling and level 80 raiding. For example, the current version only monitors for the highest level spell id of AS, while the newer version can detect all current version and will be expandable for future versions as well. That's only one improvement that is being worked on at the moment.

@Moduspnens, cordelia - I'll add it to the list.

@Doktah - That will still be there, took well over 2 weeks to code the original, not gonna take it out now

@Maethoriel, moduspwnens - The Blizz Options frame doesn't handle pop-up frames ie Color Select and other handmade frames nicely. They tend to stay on the screen after it closes, often not saving the results and/or getting stuck on the screen resulting in the user having to reload the ui. Unless it get overhauled a bit with 3.0/WotLK then I will still use my own options panel.

Also if you are wondering all of the modules will be optional. If you ant to turn off RF warning and AD tracking to run it on a warrior alt, it will be possible to turn them off and run Tankadin without lagging down your system for doing calculations/processing events that aren't necessary. I guess I could add in things like warrior/druid taunts in a pac that could be installed... hmm the possibilities.

Sweet! Thanks for your hard work. Just one question though... Is there an option that I missed that makes Tankadin unable to be shown/hidden in combat? Just curious for the reason. Thanks!

edit: A cool option for ardent defender tracking would be the ability to have two running totals. One that resets for each fight and one that is reset manually. Ditto for damage taken too, but at that point, I guess we're more getting into the realm of recount and WWS.

Been working on v2.0 for a while, mainly on paper while waiting for my beta key to arrive. This is Tankadin v2.0 with all Combat Table options on with an equal level mob:

I'll have more coming in the next few days seeing my beta key should bee here soon not to mention any guild I join seems to fall apart. So much for raiding.

One idea I just thought of with all of those options is having profiles that can select. Say I could choose 'nature res.' profile and it would show my critability, nature res. EH or w/e else i selected. Would be handy with all those new options.

@Sharlos - Good idea! Once I get the new drop down menu under wraps I'll try to put that in.

Here's a SS I just took of the new Announcement Tab:

Lets just say that you can customize almost everything. The bottom section allows for the default channel index ie:5 or for other channels. There will be an option for the taunt in a coming build for a whisper to be sent to the ToT of the failed taunt.
